YOUNGER BROTHER
For somebody you like enough to insult properly.
Happy birthday to the annoying little bastard who followed me everywhere, copied everything I did and still grew up thinking he was the clever one. Mum and Dad called you a lovely surprise, which is family language for ‘we really should have been more careful.’ You spent your childhood nicking my stuff, grassing me up and repeating everything I said five minutes later as if you’d invented it. Years have passed, but you still have the judgement of a Labrador near an open bin and the confidence of a man never burdened by self-awareness. Being your older sibling taught me patience, forgiveness and how to hide anything worth keeping. I’ll always be older, wiser and better-looking. You’ll always be the reason Mum and Dad finally bought a television. Love ya bro x
