YOU'VE MADE US GRANDPARENTS

You've made us grandparents. Thank you for this enormous honour and the excellent excuse to leave any gathering early because we've been promised a cuddle. We're already becoming the people who show baby photographs without waiting to be asked. We used to find them annoying. It turns out they simply hadn't met our grandchild. There will be presents, enthusiastic offers of help and probably an outfit you wouldn't have chosen yourselves. We ask only that you send a photograph before quietly putting it away. Underneath all our excitement is how proud we are of you. Watching you welcome this little life means more than we can properly explain. Thank you for our beautiful grandchild.
